Horse Portraits, Ace

I've moved on a little with the latest of my horse portraits. Ace is now really beginning to look more 3d, I'm really pleased with the bridle as I know nothing about them whatsoever, they look very complicated and adjustable so I had to ensure I had everything was in the correct place. I'm now working around the mouth area and have yet to add lowlights on Ace's forehead but it still is beginning to look more real. I'm beginning to think I'll never use anything else but drafting film as it suits my technique very well, or is it that I've adapted my technique to suit the drafting film, either way I find it so easy to use.

And news on Cyril.....

This is Cyril taking in the big outdoors, for the sake of technicalities, I am not releasing a non-native species into the wild, I am simply returning a wild animal back to it's previous habitiat (just in case, but as you will read later, it makes little difference).

We left Cyril with his cage, bedding and chestnuts and went out for the day, however when we returned about 7 hours later there was no sign of Cyril, being the mad animal lover that I am, I called Cyril's name (like he speaks english!) and to my shock and surprise I heard a rustling in the tree above my head, he raced down the tree trunk, raced across the ground and climbed up my legs to sit on my shoulders, if someone told me this story I would say, don't be so stupid but here is the proof.....

And he would not be parted from me, he decided he had to lick my hands non-stop (not sure what that means in squirrel language) but he was unphased by Willow being sat by me, she really is very good and after I threw him into a tree and tried to go home he decided he would follow me across the road.

This is us returning to the wood to get him off the road....

And here he is after having made it back home. He is now safely back sleeping in his woolly hat ready for another attempt at teaching him to be a proper squirrel in a tree!!!

Ace is looking great - love horses!

And as for Cyril - well I don't think he's going to leave the comforts of the only home he's known for some time!
