Dog Paintings, Pepper St George
This is the start of the next of my dog paintings. This is Pepper St George, aptly named as he was born on a St George's Day. Unfortunately Pepper has now passed away but looking at the photos I have received Pepper was a much loved dog who is sorely missed.
So far I have used 4H, 2B and 3B Cumberland Graphite pencils (made by Derwent) but expect to add more as I continue working on this dog painting. I have only layered a little and will be darkening areas as time goes by trying to recreate the sheen and dark of Pepper's fur.
And just a little pic of Cyril. We have decided to winter him after advice from the squirrel rescue people as it will soon be time for squirrels to rely on their stores of nuts, of which Cyril has none, plus it will be quite cold so he is moving into the rabbit shed. We think we will be able to let him out to play and just shut him up securely at night time so Cyril will be spending Christmas with us. Thankfully at this seasonal time of year all the supermarkets sell lots of nuts so he will be nice and fat for spring time!
If you like my work please take the time to leave me a comment or become a follower. If you would like to win a pet portrait of your dog, cat, horse or any other pet please see my new competition. It costs nothing to enter, all you require is internet access.
If you are interested in commissioning me please visit my pet portrait artist website or my wildlife artist website
Now visit my picasa photo album to see completed pieces of art.
Thanks for visiting!

I am so glad Cyril will be wintering with you - I think he'll stay quite close to his 'home' when you finally let him go.
The start of Pepper is great - you can already see what he looks like by just putting in the top of his head and nose. You are really an incredible artist Karie Ann.
lucky Cyril...and nice looking beginning on your dog drawing...I really like pencil work.

I've been nut collecting for Cyril and you'll be glad to know he has a big stash of his favourite meal, chestnuts, chestnuts and more chestnuts! I think he will stay close to us as well, perhaps not a good thing as our spaniel is squirrel mad, but being 13 years old and never having managed to get near one yet I think Cyril will be safe!
