Lack of pet portraits
With apologies to everyone for my lack of updates lately. We have been and still are in the midst of a disaster here. Our beloved toulouse dewlap and embden geese have contracted a disease which we have lost 3 females to, and we still have a further 2 very ill. Aside from this, I've had a disaster with my fish tanks. I rather stupidly bought fish online and it seems they were all diseased and have devastated my fish stock. It's been quite sad because some fish were quite old and even moved house with me. I just can't believe how stupid I have been, I'm so particular usually, I investigate each fish I want to find out compatibility and requirements and then I only ever choose healthy specimens, alas my lack of common sense on this occasion has caused me untold problems. I have been replacing 75% of my tank water every day, no mean feat when both tanks are over 400 ltrs so it's been quite time consuming! On top of my mini disasters, it is breeding time here, plus I am completely obsessed with looking after Shizzle the squirrel so I've lost all effort with my art. It's all sat there looking at me and telling me I need to get back to it otherwise I never will. Let's hope my next blog update actually contains some art!

Sorry to hear you've had so many problems! I've been neglecting my art too because of the new puppy. I hope everything turns around for you!
Hi Karie, hope your geese and fish make it and things settle down for you. I think this has been a tough year for a lot of people. My art is suffering too, (my mother's health) but I did manage to get a little mini done. You take care Karie. Hope you get back to painting soon.
Wow. You have your hands full! Hoping the situation improves soon.
Hi Karie - so sorry to hear about all your dramas and I do hope the whole clan pull through and the worst of it is behind you!!! :)
Thanks all, it's been the worst week for our animals. We've lost another goose and I can't see the end of it just yet. If they were a food source instead of dear pets perhaps I wouldn't feel so bad, unfortunately they are all tame and have names.
I feel your sad frustration! Hope things turn around soon. I feel for you with the fish... people look at you like you're crazy when you are sad over losing a fish, but fish really can become quite pet. We have 7 free-roaming chickens that lay their eggs in baskets on the back porch, so I can sympathize with the geese, too. Get better soon!
Sorry to hear about your dramas, animals are so much part of our life it is awful to even one. Don't worry about your art it will be there, you have more important things to do right now. Take care.
Have just come back to find an oh so sad situation Karie-Ann. My heart goes out to you as I know how much you love animals and especially those nearest and dearest to you. As Wendy says, the art will take care of itself - get your beloved pets well again.
It's heartbreaking when our animals are ill. They cannot tell you until we notice, and by then it's sometimes too late.
I too have moved house with fish and I stress over their wellbeing as much as any other animal.
Healing wishes being sent your way....
Cheers,
Cindy
