Horse Portraits
This is my latest portrait, a graphite pencil portrait. This portrait will also be framed.
And news on Stan, he is settling in very well, he is friends with all the other dogs and they are all just getting on with doggy things, such as sleeping in doorways...
....posing for photos....
...sniffing about...
...amd generally strolling around.
I've also got a little chick to look after, it's mother didn't cover it with her feathers properly and it has become cold. It's also only half the size of it's brothers and sisters so we aren't holding out much hope but it's got a hot water bottle and a furry hat to keep warm with now.
Plus very very important newsflash....remember Cyril the squirrel, well he has been spotted very close to where he escaped although it does appear he is still something of a runt! Anyway, well spotted Alex, I hope you see him again and give us more updates.

Rescue German Shepherd
This is Stan's first full day with us. We took Stan, Willow and Gypsy (also a rescue dog) to meet Willow's new friend called Zac. Zac the german shepherd has recently been rescued himself and was very shy last time we saw him although he did play a lot with Willow so we thought Stan may appreciate seeing another doggy face.
Stan was very reserved but after about half an hour he soon got into the swing of things and decided to join in and I promptly fell over with Willow deciding to sit on top of me and defend me as hers.
A group photo of 3 of my furry babies!
This is Ellie with the big belly, she is usually very lonesome and potters around doing her own thing but she decided to join in, playing and stealing toys so she also had a good day.
And this is Zac, another rescue dog. He has been living the life of a tractor repair assistant for about a month and has setlled in too, he was terribly thin when we first met him but he has now filled out and is a very bouncy 1 year old. He was keen on Willow as she is very very playful and they raced around for ages.

Dog Portraits, Ralph
Finally the main image for Ralph's portrait is alsmost complete. There are a few amendments I want to make but then it's to add the corner images. I've removed the grey background in a photo editor as the weather is quite grim and all photos have this bland dull shade over them, and although the images look better without this dull greyness, I think my editing skills are still way off the mark so that's another thing I will need to perfect before long!
I'm becoming very excited as I will be collecting the rescue german shepherd Stan this afternoon, it's so long away I can hardly wait! I'm just off up in the woods with Willow so she is a bit spoilt before he arrives and she hopefully won't feel too put out. I'm hoping she will see him as a play mate, she did try to play with him when he visited but at the time he really wasn't interested but as least I know they can be together without them falling out!

Dog Portraits, Ralph
Here's a little more of Ralph appearing. His chest fur is very thick and it has so many colours in which you would normally never see unless you studied it but it's surprising how many shades, highlighting and shadows there are to be detailed to create the illusion of fur.
On a pet note, we have been assessed by german shepherd rescue and Stan will be coming to live with us on Saturday so there will be lots of photos taken for you all to get to know him, and we'll see how long he stays white (apparantly not long if his past records are anything to go by!). I've just been out in the local woods with Willow and Zac who both nag for a walk (and I'm quite mad at Willow as it's after a full day at work for her too) and soon we will be accompanied by Stan. I'm having a week off work to help settle him in and get him used to us rather than throwing him into the deep end with work straight away so we will be out and about in our woods non stop next week, I do hope the weather is dry otherwise I could be getting a bit soaked!
Also we are planning out our veg patch, we are just looking for a polytunnel so I will also be adding photos of that and you can see whether we have green fingers or not!
