Dog Portrait, Patch

I've started work on the lovely Patch. I've been dreading this one as the reference image was very poor, luckily the client did send me some more images showing Patch's face in more detail, it's one of those things you keep looking at and are not quite brave enough to begin, however I took the plunge and have managed to put down the underlayers of Patch's colouring and it is turning out to be less troublesome than I had thought. Who could say no to such a lovely dog? Unfortunately Patch has now passed away so of course it will be nice to produce a portrait for Patch's family to treasure in the future.
I've also found just the right frame I had been looking for for the snow leopards portrait I did some time ago, you can see the progress by following 'wildlife art' in the catagories section.
I'm hoping to add some more wildlife paintings to my blog and website that are for sale. If you are interested in this piece simply click here I'm also in the process of starting a website solely for wildlife art but obviously need more portraits before it can go live.
Please visit here for a chance to win your wildlife image as a piece of art.
Thanks for visiting my blog, please come back again, any comments are very welcome

Patch looked so sweet. I'm glad you were sent some better photos...good reference images make a huge difference!

That frame is perfect for the snow leopards, I love how the gold compliments the buff color on their chests! :-)

Always a joy to visit your site. Have you ever tried etching?

Hi David,

Not tried etching, it's on my 'to do' list along with acrylics and pastels. I never get time to try much new but etching does seem to be in my style of work so perhaps it will be top of my 'to do' list.
