Dog Portraits, Harry

A bit more progress on this dog portrait. Still a long way to go though! Harry is in such a unique pose too.

And this is where we were working near today. This is a monument for Northern United coal pit. The last coal was brought to the surface on Christmas Eve 1965. The Forest of Dean was a large coal producing area in years gone by. The entire area is covered with old mine shafts and the locals, known as foresters can become freeminers, a tradition which exists to this day whereby a miner had to work in a pit for a year and a day and then he was allowed to open and mine his own pit.

The monument shows miners going down in the shaft to work

I love Harry's nose! You are doing a wonderful job on him. The mine monument is interesting.

Happy painting!
