Shizzle the squirrel

Well as I mentioned in my last post Shizzle the squirrel was coming to live in my garden.
His adopted Mum Alex, delivered him today and let him out in our shed.
We had a minor panic as he raced from the shed and around the garden on the ground rather than go up any trees and for about 15 - 20 minutes we thought he was never going to race up our huge chestnut tree. He didn't go far though and came back to Alex for a fuss and a cuddle before he finally made it up into the branches...and he's been there ever since. He's been exploring each hole, crevis and some previous squirrel dreys and seemed to be having a whale of a time just racing around above our heads. Alex stayed for a couple of hours and Shizzle never once left our sight or the garden so it seems the chestnut tree does meet with his approval!
Isn't he cute!?!

Wildlife Pictures and squirrel news

And so it was we were just in the right place at the right time with this little group of deer. Deer are in large numbers in the Forest of Dean but usually our sightings are restricted to when we are moving in the truck or as they flash by us when we disturb them by working deep in the woods far from the beaten tracks where most people never walk. We had just turned a corner with these and I had actually been fiddling with my camera so it was out of the bag, lens on and at the ready to catch them on film!

Also...squirrel news....
Remember Cryil the squirrel. Well quite a while ago Cyril went to live with Shizzle up in Hereford. Cyril then decided enough was enough, he didn't need anyone looking after him and he decided to go it alone, well, Shizzle's adoptive Mum is now expecting her own little boy and she has decided Shizzle would like to live in my chestnut tree. She came to visit last weekend and is more tha happy that he can come down here to live.
We alsready have a drey of 3 quirrels living at the very top of the tree and we are hoping Shizzle will meet and greet them however we may yet leave him in the barn for a few days to let him settle or maybe just hang his designer handbag from the chestnut tree to help him feel more at home. Anyway, I've charged all cameras and I hope to take some pics of his release tomorrow for you all to see. If it's anything like Cyril's original attempted release I'm sure he'll just sit still with shock and won't actually move away.
Anyway regardless of how he is released the fact remains he really wouldn't be here at all if it wasn't for his caring adoptive Mum.

Cat portraits, Lucky and Snow Leopard Wildlife Art

Just a quick update after a few more hours work on the cat portrait of Lucky...

...and after working on the tail of the snow leopard

and I saw this little fox in the woods today. He decided we were worth studying and watched us for quite some time before slinking off into the scrub.

Cat Portraits, Lucky

Meet Lucky. She is an amazing 19 years young and is a very petite cat according to her owner Robyn. Lucky has been a little poorly of late so I wish her well getting better very soon.
This is the very first stage of this cat portrait and I will post more updates as she appears on the page.
