Dog Portrait, Weimaraners Nina and Olivia

I'm at the very early stages of Nina and Olivia the weimaraners who are from the USA. This really is only getting the basic shading and light in the right places at the moment.
Picture of the Day
As for my blog, I am collecting a few followers now so something must appeal to people so thank you all for that, I'm trying to keep things interesting so have now added a 'picture of the day' section where I aim to take one photo of either where I am working or of something in the garden so my followers can learn a little about me, today's pic is of the long walk back to van after finishing for the day. Because of the snow we couldn't take the van down to the areas we were working on for the Forestry Commission today which was at the very bottom of the wood and took a good 15 minutes to walk downhill but as you can imagine it took a lot longer going back up, it seems an age when all you want to do is jump in the van and drive home! Willow was trotting along in front of me at a fair pace so she could have a snooze, she fits in the footwell very nicely, not sure what happens when she grows bigger!! She's very well behaved and spends break times sleeping away on my feet which on snowy days is very welcome. She has a little furry fleece to snuggle into and doesn't move until it's time to go back to work or until we get home.
Luckily the snow has now started to thaw out and the light is drawing out so we let all the birds out this evening  although the weather is supposed to be even worse tonight with heavy snow predicted from midnight until 6 tomorrow morning, if that does happen (fingers crossed it does) I think we may be snowed in again!!!
Anyway here is Buffy and his three amigos, the golden appenzellar trio making themselves comfortable in the last few rays of sunshine!!!
And who says chickens are stupid, they huddled up out of the breeze and found somewhere free of snow! This quartet have become best of friends and follow each other around the garden all the time, Buffy is still being spoilt after his close encounter with the fox so gets his own special pile of corn but his three amigos help themselves to it as well!

I love chickens! I also admire that you are one of the few artists who has a chock full of commission work in this economy. Yay for you!!

Thanks Sheila, I'm really doing well with portraits at the moment, I thought it would all die off after Christmas but it's been really good, I'm sure I've been a bit lucky and am preparing myself for the recession by keeping everthing crossed!

Not lucky Karie, TALENTED! Luck may get you an occasional sale once in a while but you're working hard along with your talent that is keeping cautious consumers choosing whom they think is one of the best in the industry. Thank you for your advice oh wise and talented one...HUGS!

I only recently found your blog, but I love it! I enjoy seeing the work of other dog artists (and your work is fantastic, btw.) Not to mention your day job sounds so interesting, you take great photos and you seem like a super nice person too. :-)
Oh, and love the chickens! When I was a kid my family had a small flock for eggs and meat. Just watching them go about their daily business was great entertainment, at least I thought so, lol.

Hi Kathleen, I love my chickens too, they are great, luckily ours are just pets, we get so many given to us that would otherwise get killed, Buffy shown above was a fighter and was about to get the chop and buried, not even eaten, how bizarre! He now resides with us and is a very special pet, the man who gave him to us was a best friend who died so Buffy is just a reminder and is a bit spoilt, it was a bit sad when we thought the fox had got him, he played dead though, should give him an oscar! I'm no expert with photos, I just take a lot and some work out! Thanks for visiting my blog, I regularly check yours out too, now I've got the hang of leaving comments I'll be back with a vengeance!!!
