Amur Leopard by Wildlife Artist Karie-Ann Cooper

I have completed more of the leopard's back and it's looking as though this area will be completed pretty soon, but not one to do things in order....
You may be able to see if you squint and look away from the sun that I've added the base layer to the legs, now it may give a better idea as to the size of this portrait. The leopard doesn't even cover half of the support so I'm sure to wear down some more pencils soon!!!
Anyway as it's been a while since I've taken some Forestry Commission work photos here are a few, the area above is in the Bark Rack where we saw all the deer featured in the videos, the green on the ground are blue bell leaves and will soon carpet the ground. I hope we get chance to go back at somepoint when they are in flower to take a few photos to blog. It was such a nice area to work on but alas today we finished this contract and are now moving nearer to my house (goodie goodie) but we will probably see some boar there and maybe I'll get them on video as well (not sure if you can film when running in the opposite direction mind you!)
And just to show you how much Willow has grown, she is now nearly as tall as Zac and apparantly is at the top end of her weight, I tried to cut her food down for a couple of days but have decided against it now as she is a big dog, they only weighed her but didn't take her height into account. The 'weapon' next to her is my slasher, this is what I use all day to remove the bark from trees, yesterday we had to use them to remove ivy as well, and it's not the ivy that grows up walls either, it's as thick as a leg in some places where it grows together and we spend what feels like hours chopping it off to measure the trees properly, rarely it is so bad we use a chainsaw!
And here were my partners in crime for the day, Dave and Cassie, Cassie has put up with Willow with so much patience, she's fifteen coming 16 and is just so laid back about everything.
And here you can see the usual state of affairs, I'm usually toddling along at the back singing to myself with my headphones on, even Willow gets fed up waiting for me and lies down on the job!!!
And here is the newest vehicle at the Jones-Cooper ranch, I added my signs straight away!!!
We get the top for it tomorrow.
And finally here is the scene after work, now shush please. I think Ronnie stole that seat on the dog sofa (it really is the dog sofa, how spoilt are they?!?!)

Ok, first off - I'm loving the leopard, the fur looks so realistic! Wow!
Willow is getting so big, she is lucky she gets to go to work with you instead of staying home like most dogs.
I love the truck signs, what a great idea! I bet you get a lot of response from them. Have you had them on other vehicles? Do you get many commissions from them?

Hi Kathleen, those door signs work a treat, I've got one on my gate as well, all the locals have had portraits plus the delivery man and I've had commissions just from parking up in the usual places, car parks, the vets and outside of the local shop. I highly recommend getting them! As for Willow, she races out to get in the van each morning, she still sulks when I leave her for her daily rest and expects to be with me at all times!

Your leopard is really taking shape! It is going to be stunning! You don't need to wield a brush when you can use a pencil the way you do, Karie-Ann!

I had the same questions on the signs - interesting that they work so well. I may have to get some. And I must say I enjoyed seeing your husband on the "dog's couch" - we used to have one too! (And that's the sort of thing my hubby would have done too!)

I know you can paint missy..... every teacher I've had said since I have the basics down pat for drawing a likeness, painting is just learning how it's put down to get close to what you envision.

I wish I could draw half as well as you! The leopard is awesome and I've studied all the drawings you've generously posted and still admire your technique and discipline in developing such an awesome image.

Thanks for updating us on the other part of your life. Willow is getting huge and more beautiful. I love how your other half supports you in your passion. I love that truck! What an awesome ride and to be able to write some of it off for tax purposes with the signs is genius!

What a cutie you have on the dog's couch. [oh and the pups are adorable too.]

Thanks Sheila, you do make me laugh and you can still paint miles better than I ever could so there!
